Presentation t[ai]m!

So, looking through the offered resources, I can sum up, that each resource has its advantages and disadvantages. E.g., some sites are shareware, i.e. the trial period could be used, and then you will choose to buy or not to buy the full version of the software. English language skills are required to use sites like Qwiki and Slideshare , that's why it will be difficult for a user who knows another language to navigate the work environment. But for creation my own sample presentation I decided to use Prezi . It is   a popular free online presentation tool known for its graphic interface and its non-linear approach to presentations. The zooming tool is impressive. Plus, there are tutorials and other aids to help you learn how to use it. Its popularity is growing, which means there's also a growing number of third-party resources available. My presentation is here

The potential of Second Life services in language teaching/learning

•  listen - speak - read - write - move - interact with objects •  The great thing of the community of Second Life is that you can write your question in a chat box, and someone around will usually help you.  •  You can visit conferences, towns online. •  Second Life provides us different activities, a regular class doesn't offer, which helps us to learn a foreign language (e.g. games)

Distinguishing characteristics of Web 1.0, 2.0 & 3.0

The Internet is very much alive and kicking.  The first generation of Internet sites primarily gave  information but with the rise of sites like Facebook and Amazon  the web has become increasingly interective.   On this Web 2.0 it’s mostly the user produced the content.  Without contributors there would be no Facebook, and without the people who post information on Wikipedia and the clips on YouTube there would be no interaction on these sites. Meanwhile, most of the people have become familiar with Web 2.0. Blogging (which appeals to language teachers),  tagging, social networking and social bookmarking have paved the way to a next step in the development of the web - the step to the intelligent and omnipresent Web 3.0.  Web 3.0 is not totally different from the web we know now. It is in many respects a continuation of existing techniques.  Think of the so-called recommender systems, that make a personal approach by a website possible, Amazon has cleverly used this system for a long

CALL & Language Skills

Nowadays, in the era of technologies, there are plenty of resources, where people of different age groups and abilities can learn foreign languages and train their skills. I can't say, however, the exact quantity of them, but it is hard to find a really useful resource. The site which I liked more from the offered list is "Learn English with Rosetta Stone".  Why?  - The navigation is quite easy.  - There are no too many unknown buttons (~garbage) to click on.  - You can train listening, speaking and pronunciation just on this one resource without using dozens of sites. - There is a 3-day free trial, that's why you can try the service and then decide either to buy the full version or abandon. But there are also some "-": - The design of the site could be better (especially fonts). - The tasks are ve-e-e-e-e-ery easy.
